Iconoclast No More?

If you're like me, you're wondering: "What ever happened to that band Laurence Iconoclast with that iconoclastic frontman, Laurence?" Well, LI is no more, apparently! I got to hear from Laurence the other day and he has formed a new band, The Famous. A little more to the country end of things, but sounds promising! Check out their website, The Famous.

(Brief History: I was fortunate enough to do some album covers and web designs for the very talented Mr. Laurence some time ago. Some will remember his band's very funny and very rockin' country-funk-rock-rap fusion shows! He ran a veritable gamut, there. :) I, for one, am glad to hear he's still makin' music!)

Chicoian Get-Away

From Tuesday to Thursday last week I drove approx. 3.5 hours north to visit my Aunt Lo, Uncle Greg, my Sis Christy and her Husband (or Brother-In-Law, if you will) Chris in Chico. They all live there! It was great! Chico is a surprisingly small town. Just about five minutes from one end to the other! Had a cool little downtown thing with a Peets and a Starbucks and a "Naked Lounge" coffee house, the local "hot-spot." I got to see my cousins, Mel and Liz, or Lizzy or Lizard. Very cool kids. Together we mused about racewalking as an olympic sport and the eating and excersice habits of rabbits. I got to see Chris and Chris's new bungalow. Very quaint! I thought it was a cool little place. I got to hear Greg drum, always an awesome treat, he is very good. He could have used a little more cowbell, of course. :) The highlight, though, I would have to say was Bear Hole!

Bear Hole is this little section of creek they have in Chico with these rocks to climb on.

"Probably the most visited of these is Bear Hole. Located off the twisting dirt road that leads to all of Upper Park's swimming holes, Bear Hole offers deep rushing waters spotted with lots of volcanic rocks perfect for jumping."

Clear, mildly chilly water. Very fun.

Beginnings

Hello Dear Reader,

Okay, so this is an attempt at a "personal" blog. I hadn't really found written blogs all that interesting until I started reading my good friend Dave's blog on his globe-trotting adventures. When I did, I kind of realized that blogs can really have value and be quite enjoyable if they are read by people you know. It can be kind of a personal newsletter of sorts, I suppose, but much more informal. So inspired by Dave, I'm going to try to start writing some personal day to day stuff in this blog. I am not much of a writer, but I hope my friends and family will enjoy an anecdote and update now and then! So please check back soon and leave comments whenever you would like! ("anonymously" is probably easiest, I'm not sure how blogger does the comments thing, so try it out! You can identify yourself in the body of the comment.)
