Con-O-Copia!

Greetings!

Yes! I went to the WonderCon last weekend. It was the first time I had ever been to a comic book convention. I really liked it! I had heard many things about comic book conventions: the cosplay (dressing up as your favorite character), the fanboys (of which I hope I am counted as one), and the cool, cool stuff.

My gracious host Sean had talked up the San Diego ComiCon for quite a while and although he said this one was not as big, it was quite large. For one, it had many celebrities, more than I expected! Margo Kidder (The Superman movie's Lois Lane), Ray Park (aka Darth Maul and Toad from X-Men), and the highlight, of course, was Chewbacca himself, Peter Mahew! Also, they had a lot of special sneak previews of upcoming movies, I got to see stuff for the new Spielberg/Cruise version of "War of the Worlds," the eagerly anticipated "Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy" (Great trailer here!), the very, very cool looking "Serenity", a movie from the short lived sci-fi show "FireFly." But they also had sneaks for the new Batman movie, "Batman Beyond" and of course, "Revenge of the Sith", the new Star Wars.

One of best moments was seeing someone dressed up as the great Ro-Man from the Sci-fi classic, "Robot Monster!" Awesome!

Introspection Connection

Well, I know this is the second entry in a row where I ponder why I like something, but what the hey, it's Le Blog Personnel. This video was posted on a a very cool blog called CartoonBrew.com. I watched it once and had to watch it over and over again. I just love the way it re-mixes the a bygone, classic "modern" era. It just seems right.

Watch it first, and I will continue...

Some might watch it and think, oh lame, more old actors pasted into new settings. But this one has a cinematic choreography that is very well put-together. First, just to watch it is a joy in itself. Then, to mix the music so well with the film footage provided is impressive. Then on those wacky introspective layers, this commercial takes two things I really like, the fifties and techno and does a great tasteful thing with it. I hope you all enjoy it as much as I have. :)

Also this new Beck video is not bad either!
